Mená Hero tréningov sú pomenované podľa zosnulých amerických vojakov, ktorí väčšsinou padli v boji. Zakladateľ CrossFitu Greg Glassman bol taktiež vojakom, bol bývalým príslušníkom špeciálnych jednotiek Navy Seals. Práve na ich počesť sa objavujú v CrossFite rôzne tréningy aj s krátkym popisom života konkrétneho vojaka a jeho zásluh.
